13% Of Complaints About Electronic Health Information Blocking Filed Against Certified Health Information Technology Developers
Between April 5, 2021, and February 28, 2022, 44 of the more than 330 complaints filed against electronic health record (EHR) developers or provider organization practices that blocked consumer access to their health information were filed against software developers listed as Certified Health Information Technology (IT) developers. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is reviewing these complaints because the certification program requires participants to avoid information blocking in their EHRs.
