Nearly 27 Million Americans May Have Lost Job-Based Health Insurance Due To COVID-19; 42% Likely Eligible For Medicaid

Between March 1, 2020 and May 2, 2020, nearly 27 million Americans may have lost employer-sponsored health insurance (ESI) due to the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19), and that based on income 41.6% are likely eligible for Medicaid. This total includes people who lost their own ESI and those who lost dependent coverage when a family member lost a job and ESI.
