Nebraska DHHS To End Child Welfare Case Management Contract With Saint Francis Ministries
On December 14, 2021, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Saint Francis Ministries jointly agreed to end privatized child welfare case management for the state’s Eastern Service Area (ESA), which includes the city of Omaha. Effective January 3, 2022, DHHS and Saint Francis will begin to transition case management responsibilities in the ESA. The process will continue through June 30, 2022. Saint Francis Ministries will remain in place as a child placing agency (CPA) for the ESA.
