On October 23, 2020, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed two laws intended to transform the state’s long-term care industry. These two new laws augment four signed on September 16, 2020, that also address New Jersey’s long-term care system. The laws aim to address minimum nursing home staffing ratios, minimum wages, and set minimum loss ratio for spending on direct care. One of the laws requires all long-term care settings, including assisted living facilities, to establish policies to prevent social isolation.
