New York OMH Selects Mental Health Empowerment Project To Launch An Independent Practice Association For Peer-Run Services
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) selected Mental Health Empowerment Project, Inc. (MHEP) for a contract valued at $2 million to provide a peer run services independent practice association (IPA) eligible to bill the state Medicaid managed care organizations. The IPA will provide peer-run services for people with mental illness. The goal is to help peer-operated programs develop a cost-effective infrastructure on a cooperative basis for operating in a Medicaid managed care environment and support their ability to handle shared risk contracts under value-based payment models.
