North Carolina Launches Online Registry To Decrease Wait Times For Behavioral Health Beds
On January 31, 2023, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) launched a new tool called “BH SCAN”, a centralized bed registry, to help hospitals and other provider organizations quickly find an open psychiatric or addiction treatment bed. The goal is to reduce the length of time people in behavioral health crisis wait in a hospital emergency department for an open treatment bed.
