Oregon Expands Medicaid Addiction Treatment Continuum To Include Residential IMD Services
On April 8, 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the Oregon Health Authority’s Medicaid Substance Use Disorder 1115 Demonstration waiver. The five-year waiver will allow the state to receive federal Medicaid funding for short-term addiction treatment services provided to Medicaid recipients in residential treatment facilities considered an Institution for Mental Disease (IMD). The other major component of the waiver increases the service array for Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members with addiction disorders, including Community Integration services composed of housing and employment support. The waiver authority runs through March 31, 2026.
