Oregon Health Authority Sets First Hospital Community Benefit Spending Floor
On February 1, 2021, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) announced the first minimum spending floor for hospital community benefit for the Legacy Health System. This action is the outcome of legislation, House Bill 3076 of 2019, that directed OHA to set the minimum amount each tax-exempt hospital or hospital system in the state must spend on community benefits. This spending amount is based on the hospital's revenues, prior expenditures, financial health, and the needs of the population served.
OHA is developing the community benefit targets one system at a time. The first system is the Legacy Health system . . .
