Pennsylvania Medicaid Moving To Value-Based Reimbursement For Behavioral Health
On January 1, 2018, the Pennsylvania Medicaid program implemented new requirements for the value-based purchasing (VBP) initiative for the behavioral health HealthChoices program. The requirements, which apply to the counties and the county-selected managed behavioral health organizations (MHBOs), currently cover 15 counties in the Southeast and Southwest part of Pennsylvania. Effective July 1, 2018, behavioral HealthChoices contracts covering the remaining 52 counties will begin implementing VBP requirements.
