People With Autism At Three Times Higher Risk Of Self-Injury & Suicidality
People with autism are at approximately 3.3 times the risk of self-injury and suicidality, compared to those without autism. Overall risk ratios for self-injury in those with autism ranged from about 0.9 to 1.1. Overall risk ratios for suicidality in those with autism ranged from about 1.2 to 18.8. Results were consistent between clinical and non-clinical settings and between children (aged under 20 years) and adults (ages 20 and older). No other findings were included in the study.
