The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions (National Alliance) are developing a national primary care model based on a prospective payment system. They are working with regional employer coalitions and physician networks. At this stage of development, the two organizations are focused on developing a roadmap—a common framework—that will set the standard for how purchasers and physicians can work together to deliver meaningful and measurable improvements in how care is paid for and delivered.
