Socioeconomic vulnerability, such as poverty, incarceration, or unemployment, increases the risk of dying from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). “Socioeconomic vulnerability” encompasses potential negative effects on communities caused by external stresses on human health, housing and food security, and economic impacts such as job loss and poverty.
