South Dakota Individual & Small Group Plans Must Include Coverage For ABA Starting In 2021
A change in the South Dakota Essential Health Benefits (EHB) benchmark plan mandates that all individual and small group insurance plans must include coverage for applied behavioral analysis (ABA) starting in 2021. Prior legislation (SD St. §58.17.157), enacted in 2015, already requires large group health plans to provide coverage of ABA. However, that law exempted non-grandfathered plans in the individual and small-group markets.
