Texas DFPS To Evaluate Transition To Community-Based Foster Care
The State of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is planning a formal evaluation of its transition to a community-based care (CBC) foster care model. The CBC model was launched in Texas in 2013. Currently, the CBC model is up and running in four regions of Texas, serving about 6% of all children in foster care and 2% of all forms of substitute care. And, the state currently has active plans to expand the CBC model in one more area of the state in March 2021.
