Texas HHSC Intensifying Efforts To Monitor & Report State Psychiatric Hospital Performance Measures As Facility Redesign Project Continues
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is intensifying its efforts to monitor the performance of its state hospital system as a facility redesign and process improvement project continues. HHSC began the redesign in 2019; the plan emphasizes academic partnerships and improving behavioral health service delivery to ensure consumer safety, ensure care in appropriate settings, expand maximum security capacity, and decrease waiting lists. Through this effort, the state intends to add about 1,000 new state hospital beds.
