The Number Of People Worldwide With Dementia Is Expected To Rise 40% To 78 Million By 2030
According to a report from the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of people worldwide with dementia is expected to rise by 40% from more than 55 million in 2019 to about 78 million by 2030. The incidence of dementia is estimated to rise by 9.9 million cases annually. By 2050, the prevalence of dementia is projected to increase to about 132 million. Among people over age 65, dementia affects about 6.9% of the 697.3 million people age 65 and older in 2019, affecting 8.1% of women and 5.4% of men.
