On February 4, 2021, U.S. Senator Mitt Romney announced plans to introduce legislation to create the Family Security Act, a plan for cash payments for families with children. The plan would provide $350 per month for each young child (ages 0 to 5) and $250 per month for each school-aged child (ages 6 to 17). Parents would be eligible to receive the monthly cash benefit starting four months before a child’s delivery date. As of March 4, 2021, Senator Romney has not released further information about the status of the proposal.
