More than half of non-federal acute care hospitals in the United States are already using, or plan to start using, generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the next year, according to a recent survey of 2,174 hospitals.
Researchers analyzed the 2024 American Hospital Association (AHA) Information Technology (IT) Supplement survey. Information about hospital operating margins, uncompensated care, and Medicaid discharges were from the 2022 Medicare Cost Report.
