SAMHSA Awards $255 Million To Vibrant Emotional Health To Administer 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Current 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline administrator Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant) will continue in that role for the next five years, according to a May 15, 2026, announcement by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The contract is valued at $255 million.

The 988 Lifeline is a national network of more than 200 local crisis contact centers managed by a SAMHSA-funded network administrator. Since launching in July 2022, the 988 Lifeline has received more than 25 million contacts via call, text, chat, and American Sign Language (ASL) videophone.
