California Creates $75 Million Fund To Provide Stimulus Money To Undocumented Immigrants
On April 15, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced $75 million to create a one-time disaster relief assistance fund for undocumented state residents impacted by COVID-19. The California Department of Social Services (DSS) seeks to begin distributions in mid-May 2020. Each of the state's eight regions will be allocated at least $5 million from the Disaster Relief Assistance for Immigrants funding. Through this fund, eligible state residents can receive a one-time COVID-19 disaster relief assistance at a value of $500.
