Most Americans who need support of some type would prefer to live in their own homes in the community—and not in some congregate care facility. A pre-pandemic survey by AARP indicated that 76% of Americans over the age of 50 want to live at home as they age (see 2018 Home & Community Preferences: A National Survey Of Adults Ages 18-Plus).
