USPSTF Recommends Primary Care Screening To Detect Prediabetes & Type 2 Diabetes
The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends primary care screening for adults to detect both prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. This includes recommending that health care professionals refer those adults with prediabetes to effective preventive interventions.
This recommendation applies to nonpregnant adults aged 35 to 70 years seen in primary care settings who are overweight (defined as a body-mass index (BMI) of greater than 25 for those who are overweight, and a BMI greater than 30 for those who are obese) and no symptoms of diabetes.
