Going Above The Minimum
The countdown is on—this year, nearly half of U.S. states are increasing their minimum wage, with some states—like Alaska and Missouri—implementing significant hikes through voter-approved initiatives. Currently, 30 states and Washington, D.C. have a minimum wage higher than the federal rate of $7.25, and 67 localities have raised wages above their state minimums. Ten states, including California and New York, already have a $15 minimum wage or higher.
Michigan will see its minimum wage rise from $10.33 to $12.48 in February, with plans to reach $14.97 by 2028 (see Minimum . . .
