How Much Telehealth Is Enough?
The percentage of adults who used telemedicine in the past 12 months decreased from 37.0% in 2021 to 30.1% in 2022. This decrease was observed across a variety of consumer characteristics—sex, family income, education, region, and urbanization level (see Declines In Telemedicine Use Among Adults: United States, 2021 & 2022). This is sharp contrast with 2020. At that time, nearly one-half of all Medicare primary visits (43%) were provided via telemedicine.
