Nursing Home Problems Are Problems For The Entire System
The pandemic has hit nursing homes hard. It is estimated that up to 40% of U.S. COVID-19 deaths occurred in nursing homes (see Nursing Homes Site Of 40% Of US COVID-19 Deaths). As of July 12, 2020, nursing homes reported 142,231 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 38,518 deaths to a federal database (see COVID-19 Nursing Home Data). The infection prevalence rates are high—62.0 cases per 1,000 residents (see Over 95,000 COVID-19 Cases Among Nursing Home Residents & Staff As Of May 24).
