On March 30, 2021, the Defense Health Agency announced plans to expand the Tricare Comprehensive Autism Care Demonstration (ACD), which covers applied behavior analysis (ABA) services, to provide more support for beneficiaries diagnosed with autism. Changes to the program are scheduled to begin on May 1, 2021, with a roll out plan for all changes to be in effect by January 1, 2022. Currently, nearly 16,000 military children diagnosed with autism receive ABA through the Tricare ACD.
