The level of engagement of health care organization staff is on the decline again, dropping 0.02 points on a 5-point scale, after a slight rebound in 2023. A recent study—Healthcare Employee Experience 2025—found that 69% of health care employees are engaged or highly engaged, and 8% are disengaged from their work.

In the survey, engagement is defined as an individual’s emotional and personal connection to the organization as influenced by their work experience. It is measured by the intent to stay if offered a similar job elsewhere, the intent to stay for the next 3 years, a sense of belonging, recommendation of the organization as a good place to work, and overall satisfaction.
