Founder of Charter School Charged with Grand Theft Sharon Donald, founder of an Opa-locka (Florida) charter school was arrested November 12, 2004, on charges of grand theft. Prosecutors stated she inflated the number of students enrolled at the North Dade Community Charter School by bringing in underage students from a local day-care center in order to get more money from the state. Ms. Donald was to receive $46,000 for the first half of the school year for the falsified new class. The investigation was initiated by the Miami-Dade public schools inspector general . . .
