Half Of Educators Believe Appropriate Number Of Students Classified With A Disability
Over 56% of educators believe that the appropriate number of students are classified with a disability in their school system. Only 20% think more students should classified with a disability and 24% think fewer students should be classified with a disability in their school system.
States with the highest numbers of students classified with special needs – New York, Massachusetts, Maine and Pennsylvania – were less likely to agree with those findings. 8.3% of special education administrators in these states said fewer students should be classified with a disability compared to 2.9% for states with the lowest classification rates.
