VA Expands Access To Private Sector For Veterans In Suicidal Crisis

On January 17, 2023, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) expanded access to treatment for veterans, even those with an other-than-honorable discharge, who are in an acute suicidal crisis. The access includes inpatient or crisis residential care for up to 30 days and outpatient care for up to 90 days in both VA facilities and private facilities. Veterans do not need to be enrolled in the VA system to use this benefit.

The expanded access is through the Veterans Comprehensive Preventions, Access to Care and Treatment Act of 2020, which was signed on December 5, 2020 . . .
