It’s the perfect storm. Almost a third (26%) of U.S. adults have some type of disability (see Disability Impacts All Of Us). Nearly half—46%—of Americans ages 75 and older report at least one disability. Among people 75+, the most common limitations include serious difficulty walking or climbing stairs (about 30%), along with higher rates of hearing difficulty (about 21%), independent-living difficulty (about 22%), cognition (about 12%), and vision (about 9%) (see Nearly Half Of The Oldest Americans Have Disabilities).
