Why do employees in behavioral health and human service organizations leave? Four reasons are most common—inadequate compensation for high job demands; negative experience with upper management and lack of supervisor support; concerns about quality of care; and lack of future career opportunities.
These were the findings of a recently published analysis of employee exit interviews at behavioral health provider organizations—Using Exit Surveys To Elicit Turnover Reasons Among Behavioral Health Employees For Organizational Intervention. But the exit interview data also revealed many strong reasons why employees stayed in their positions—before deciding to depart.
