Three-quarters of health care executives (77%) report their organization is planning to increase participation in value-based care models in the next two years – an increase from 57% in 2023 – according to a new report, The C-Suite’s View Of Value-Based Care: Investment Heats Up Despite Cooling Sense Of Progress. But only 20% think that the pace of value-based reimbursement (VBR) has kept up with their aspirations.
The increased focus on value-based reimbursement strategies may be due to the rocky road ahead with fee-for-service reimbursement. Rate increases are small and in some cases, rates are actually being cut (see CareSource Georgia Cuts Medicaid ABA Rates 20% and Idaho Medicaid Implements Behavioral Health Cuts).
