Crisis Preparedness? Don’t Wait For The Crisis
Executives in the health and human service field have dealt with many emergencies over the years, some of which—like mass violence—are truly appalling. Defined by SAMHSA as “human-caused tragedies that…include shootings and acts of terrorism… [and] These violent acts typically target defenseless citizens with the intent to harm or kill” (see Incidents of Mass Violence). Just this year, we have already seen 107 mass shootings, including nine shootings over the weekend (see At Least 8 People Were Killed And More Than 60 Hurt In Mass Shootings Across The US This Weekend).
