The Health Of Women Ages 50 To 70 Declined During COVID
Mitigation steps put in place because of COVID-19 negatively impacted the general health status of physically inactive women aged 50 to 70. A study of pre-COVID (March 2020) and post-COVID (July 2020), saw an average of 39.8% increase in levels of insulin and a 9.7% increase in glycated hemoglobin during COVID-19 at 16 weeks.
Physical health also deteriorated in this population during COVID-19. Grip tests showed a 5.6% decrease in muscle strength, while a six-minute walk test showed a 4.4% loss of aerobic capacity. Total cholesterol for this population also . . .
