RIP Medical Debt To Clear Ballad Health Consumer Medical Debt Valued At $278 Million
On June 15, 2021, RIP Medical Debt (RIP) announced that it will pay off $277,971,455 worth of non-governmental payer medical debt for approximately 82,000 people previously served by Ballad Health. RIP is a national non-profit organization that uses donated funds to purchase medical debts belonging to financially burdened individuals.
The medical debt forgiveness only applies to non-governmental payer medical debts belonging to consumers in financial hardship, meaning RIP will not clear Medicare or Medicaid debts.
